Public Safety Communications Center
OVERVIEW:
The Deputy Director for the Lincolnway Public Safety Communications
Center, reports to, works in concert with, and in the absence of, the
Director to provide day-to-day responsibility for public safety
communications operations, which includes planning, leading, and
managing the work of telecommunicators. The Deputy Director ensures
that procedures are followed, assigned work is completed and all
equipment in the center is in working order. The Deputy Director is a
management and salaried position.
TRAITS: The position requires strong leadership skills and a passion for providing high quality service. Efficient and tactful communication skills are critical, as are seasoned skills in the operation of advanced public safety and E9-1-1 communications equipment and strong training skills. Demonstrated knowledge/command of communication center procedures is preferred. Experience with budget preparation, payroll, and accounts payable and receivable are required. EDUCATION AND DEMONSTRATED SKILLS: As a minimum, the position requires an Associate's Degree or equivalent, and 3 - 5 years experience in public safety communications. Knowledge of CAD system functions, fire service, emergency medical services, and law enforcement telecommunications and radio system operation are required. Other considerations: LEADS certification, and demonstrated experience in interpersonal relations and personnel management. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to deal effectively with staff under stressful conditions is critical. Stronger candidates will possess prior supervisory experience in addition to the requirements above. The Deputy Director position is compensated at $50,000.00 to $56,000.00 annually depending on qualifications. qualified and motivated persons for the position of Telecommunicator. Requirements:
Telecommunicator
job duties include answering 9-1-1 telephones, transmitting vital
information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying
information via the Computer-Aided Dispatch terminal, monitoring
fire/burglar alarms, and answering administrative lines serving the
police/fire personnel.

Applicants should have skills that will allow for Network and System management of a Dual P.S.A.P. configuration with a centralized equipment facility. The position requires skills in emergency service telecommunications, management, budgeting and the use of accounting software. The successful candidate must act as the liaison between numerous police, fire and EMS providers as well as local and county government. The position requires project management skills and the ability to interact with various equipment and service vendors for system maintenance.
