The Illinois APCO
Operating Procedures Committee is in need of your assistance with
finding those working among us who are deserving of a nomination for
this year's awards. These employees and peers need not be APCO
members to receive an award. Nominations may be submitted by
supervisors, peers, or co-workers.
The awards
recognize individuals who perform in an outstanding manner throughout
the year. Illinois APCO will present awards in the following categories:
"Telecommunicator
of the Year
"Line
Supervisor of the Year
"Trainer of
the Year
"Technician
of the Year
"Communications
Director/Manager of the Year
Award winners will
receive free registration and lodging for the 2011 Illinois Public
Safety Telecommunications Association Conference in Springfield,
October 14-17, 2012. Winners will be contacted prior to September 16, 2012.

Your
nomination should not be based upon the nominee's
handling of a single incident. The award is meant to honor the
"best of the best", the personnel whom their peers would
consider to be the leaders based on many aspects.
The
nomination(s) shall be no longer than three typewritten pages (not
including copies of other accommodations, press clippings, etc.) |

AWARD
CRITERIA
The
winners will be the nominees who best meet the following requirements:
A.Personal
and professional conduct must be indicative of unimpeachable moral
character, emotional stability, integrity and dependability.
Describe how this nominee's conduct meets these requirements.
B.Displays
personal habits and personality that merits and receives the respect
and esteem of co-workers, supervisors, peers and others.
Describe how the nominee's personal habits and personality meet these requirements.
C.Exhibits
outstanding performance in controlling any situation, i.e. emergency
incidents, personnel, emergency repairs, etc. Describe how this
nominee's performance meets these requirements.
D.Exceptional
courage, foresight, alertness or skill in the performance of highly
creditable and unusual situations. Describe how this nominee's
display of exceptional courage, foresight, alertness and skill meet
these requirements.
E.Acts
of valuable communications service demonstrating special
faithfulness and perseverance. Describe the actions that show
how this nominee's conduct meets these requirements.
F.Actions
which reflect the highest tradition of public safety
communications. Describe the actions that show how this
nominee's conduct meets these requirements.
G.Actions
which demonstrate dedication to the field of public safety
communica-tions and a continuing interest in maintaining the highest
standards. Include the creation of innovative ideas and
involvement toward the implementation of procedures or new
technology. Describe how this nominee's actions have
demonstrated the dedication to meet these requirements.
H.Include
with your application form all available documentation, other awards
and commendations, along with anything else you feel is above and
beyond the call for duty. Please include photocopies of awards,
commendations, press clippings, audiotapes, etc.
